I sold my iPod almost a year ago.
But this may bring me back into the fold.
Yes, I know the web is now littered with little iPod, but really. Look at it.

“the new iPod shuffle. for the ADD generation.”
it’s affordale and it looks cool. but that’s about it. for the sake of music, not to mention your soul, don’t do it!
the whole downloading of music / mp3 phenomenon has done enough damage to the album as a complete piece of art already without a player specifically designed to only play on ‘random’. good albums create a mood and take you on a journey and deserve to be listened to in their entirety.
that’s my two cents… with kent brockman.

Read the specs – if it couldn’t play straight through you wouldn’t see me within a hundred miles.
As for the rest, it’s about convenience, size, and the durability of solid state. Not to mention cheapness.
I still buy CDs. I still sit on the sofa in a darkened room with a good quality (as much so as I can afford) set of cans on my head. But that’s not much use on the bus, y’see?

scuppered again my mark’s superior ability to know stuff like tech specs! i should say that in general i am in favour of iPods and if this one can play straight through as well as on shuffle then it’s ok by me.
but somebody in marketing should get fired.
