		<description>In a trip across the Atlantic (in fact, my only ever) bound for San Francisco this time two years ago, I discovered that peace. For half a day, no new emails arrived. For half a day, the phone didn&#039;t ring. For half a day, the only interruption came from the cabin crew wandering up and down the aisle to make sure we were all still alive and well in our seats. Time was spent self-directed, reflecting, reading, looking out the window, and watching our course being plotted on the irritating electronic map.

Then landing in a foreign land, walking off the plane with the one bag I&#039;d brought with me (you don&#039;t get through a big wardrobe in 54 hours!) and walking past the taxi (I mean, cab) rank to catch a couple of late afternoon trains to my stop at Redwood. The 

Alone in a new world. Yet not lonely. Accompanied by the soft whisper of God. But away from the chattering of human beings.
