About
What would you like to know?
I’ve been doing youth work/youth ministry for quite a while, but now I’ve made the move into something with a bit of overlap but that’s a bit different. I work for a network of community work projects doing volunteer development stuff, which basically means helping volunteers get the most out of their experience with the projects.
Alongside the day job I do some freelance writing and copywriting, along with some training. It all adds up to a fairly rounded character, don’t you think?
Here you’ll find a mixed-up mish-mash of whatever I feel like writing about at the time. This site started purely for me, as somewhere for me to amuse myself writing, and that is still the gist of it. Although there are a suprising number of people who read it regularly (some who I know IRL, some who I don’t) - it’d be nice if more of you left comments, but there you go, you can’t have everything. Highlights include my musings on youth ministry and my weak attempts to connect my Christian faith with my everyday life, random blah about things that enter my head… and I read a lot of books and watch a lot of movies, so reactions and pseudo-reviews feature regularly as well.
As a confirmed and incorrigible geek, there’s also plenty of techy stuff which may or may not bore you. Part of what I try to do is if I’ve spent time trying to figure something out (even something as big as switching over to Macs for everyday use) I record it here for Google to find, in the hope that it’ll help the next person to stumble along. I don’t know about you, but when I’m stuck I usually find some of the most valuable info on blogs - and adding to that store of knowlege can only be a good thing.
I like to take photographs. You can see some of them at markgoody.com, or those ones and some more in my Flickr photostream.
I also fool around with web design and development. This is something like the fifth iteration of my blog, and yes, I know the layout is a little bit broken (as this page in particular demonstrates perfectly). Fixing it is on my list of things to do, but life, you know… Finally, I think I’ve sorted out the dumb layout problem I had :-)
If you want to know why ‘marramgrass’, this post‘ll fill you in.
A growing number of my bookmarks are at del.icio.us, and you can also find me on Twitter.
If you’d rather email than leave a comment, then go for blog AT marramgrass DOT org DOT uk.
Other alternatives are MSN (markgoody AT hotmail DOT com), GoogleTalk (markgoody AT gmail DOT com) and Skype (marramgrass) - although with the last two I tend to stick to instant messaging rather than voice.
